Synopsis
Picture Archie and Reggie, Betty and
Veronica -- and Jughead, aged 12 on steroids. This coming of
teen-age tuner doesn't turn away any teenaged-angst-filled plot
device. It just keeps piling it on
We get the first part, any New Yorker
would. Young Manhattan Upper West Sider Evan Goldman is soon to
celebrate his Bar Mitzvah. A major event in any 13-year-old Jewish
boy's life, for Evan this means glamour, glitz and more. He's
devastated when he finds that because of his folks split he and his
Mom have to move to that great megalopolis of Appleton, Indiana
The new boy in town desperately uses
all the wrong moves to become popular. You've seen it before: the
high school quarterback and head cheerleader, the good girl badly
treated, the buddy, the double dealings and misunderstandings
And, of course, Evan finds that he
does belong
The Road to Broadway
13 premiered at the
Center
Theatre Group's Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles in Winter 2007,
playing from Jan 7th through February 18th. The Todd Graff-helmed
production featured choreography by Michele Lynch
The pre-Broadway run, with direction by Mr Sams and
choreography by Mr Gattelli, was at Connecticut's
Goodspeed
Musical's Norma Terris Theatre in a one-month engagement in
summer 2008
The Road After Broadway
There were plans for national and international tours of the show to
catch all the 'tweeners out there. The producers put it our for
amateur licensing September 2009, so no tour in the near future
