Synopsis

Got a nickel? These guys want it

Down and out and not really knowing it, Junk shop owner Donny makes plans with Bobby to heist a coin collection. For whatever his motivation, Teach doesn't want Bobby to go along

Broadway Show History

American Buffalo premiered at the Ethel Barrymore Theater in February 1977 in a production directed by Ulu Grosbard; Robert Duvall, Kenneth McMillan and and John Savage starred. The Arvin Brown-helmed 1983 revival at the Booth Theater starred Al Pacino, James Hayden and J J Johnston

In the Movies

We missed the film, actually had no idea there was one. Dennis Franz as Donny teamed up with Dustin Hoffman as Teach back in the 1996 Michael Corrente directed cinema version

Notes

The third Broadway revival of Mamet's 1977 caper drama, with Laurence Fishburne as Donny Dubrow, was due on the boards in Spring 2005 with Daniel Sullivan directing. Whatever the situation was back then, the production didn't make it to Broadway after all and Mr Sullivan went off to direct Julius Caesar instead
