Synopsis

A Brit comedy of manners. Or misunderstood manners

The prime minister has been assassinated and the world appears to be falling apart. Academically cloistered Philip doesn't appear to see this, always speaking the best and the brightest of everything and everybody. But academia can be a tough place and well-meaning words might be looked at in light of the politics of the institution

Broadway Show History

Produced by David Merrick, The Philanthropist first hit the Broadway boards at the Ethel Barrymore Theater on March 15, 1971, going on to a 64-performance engagement
