Synopsis
What does Hunter Bell do when he finds that the deadline for
submissions to New York Musical Theatre Festival are only three
weeks away? He gets together with his buddy Jeff and they start
writing an original musical. They don't really have any ideas, but
they write away
Their friends Susan and Heidi come in
to help inspire the two budding writers. The submission is finished. The Festival accepts
it and now it's time to
deal with the jealousy, angst and frustration that can be part of
any such project
The Road to Broadway
The first incarnation of [title of show] premiered at the
2004 New York Musical Theatre Festival. The show was further
developed during six-performance runs at NYC's Belt Theatre at
Ars Nova,
sandwiched around work at the
Eugene
O'Neill Theater Center's Summer 2005 Cabaret and Performance
Conference
[title]'s big break came in Winter 2006 at New York's
Vineyard Theatre. Opening February 26th, the production was extended
three times, then was called back for an eight-week return
engagement stating July 26, 2006
The New York Musical Theatre Festival
Yep, it's real, as is the show synopsis above. The
NYMF's (Yes, they
drop the T and pronounce it "nymph".) main project is the three-week
festival presented each September. In five season to date (2009),
more than 175 shows have been showcased. And what's good for the
productions is even better for theater-goers. Tickets to full
productions were 20 bucks at the 2009 festival
