Pulitzer Prize for Drama
The Pulitzer were established in 1917
and the first award for drama was in 1918. The award is "for a
distinguished play by an American author, preferably original in its
source and dealing with American life" and, according to the
requirements of Joseph Pulitzer's will, should go to a play
"performed in New York"
