Phylicia Rashad, Natasha Richardson and Liev Schreiber  announced the 2006 nominations Tuesday, May 16th at 8:30A.  Here's a complete list of 2006 Tony Award nominees

The format of the 2006 awards show breaks with the format of the past few years. Instead of one host acting as emcee, the show takes as its theme "60 stars for 60 years," in a hat tip to the Tony's anniversary. Most of the presenters have rock-solid ties to Broadway and we expect to see other noted names announced as the date nears. Scheduled to appear at the time of this writing are Julie Andrews, Hank Azaria, Glenn Close, Ralph Fiennes, Eric McCormack, Cynthia Nixon, Anna Paquin, Bernadette Peters, Chita Rivera, Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo, Kyra Sedgewick, Liev Schreiber, Martin Short, Oprah Winfrey, Alfre Woodward and about 44 others

Co-sponsored by the American Theater Wing and the League of American Theatres and Producers, members of the Broadway community were first honored on April 6, 1947. The first batch of Tony recipients included Ingrid Bergman, Jose Ferrer, Helen Hayes and Fredric March

The American Theater Wing, modeled on a British organization, was founded during World War I to provide services to American GIs. The Tony Awards are named for Antoinette Perry, an otherwise now little-known Broadway actress, for her work with the Wing's famed Stage Door Canteen during World War II

Hope you enjoy the show!
